The Samarkand Summit is a reliable platform for the SCO countries and peoples
The next 22nd Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Samarkand can be called the most important factor in ensuring stable, reliable and prosperous development in the world.
Within its framework, several decisions have been made aimed at improving the well-being of the population living on the territory of the SCO countries, ensuring the economic stability of states, and maintaining peace throughout the planet.
Important documents related to the expansion of direct cooperation and the establishment of the strategic partnership were also signed with the participation of the leaders of the member countries and government representatives. A vivid example of this is the meetings of the President of Uzbekistan with the leaders of China, Russia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Belarus on the further development of bilateral cooperation. This indicates that this regional organization, which has just turned 20 years old, makes a significant contribution to the sustainable development of the world.
As is known, a Memorandum on the Obligations of the Islamic Republic of Iran to obtain the status of an SCO Member State has been signed. The admission of Iran to membership in this Organization plays an important role in enhancing the economic and political opportunities of the SCO.
Iran is located at the crossroads connecting Central Asia with the Middle East, South Asia, the Caucasus and Europe. Most importantly, several SCO member states will be able to expand trade opportunities with European and Middle Eastern countries through Iran’s seaports.
In the modern world, where new threats are emerging, there are broad prospects for the transformation and intensification of the SCO development, not only by increasing the number of member countries, but also by promoting new strategic directions.
Here we are talking about such important areas as transport and connectivity, energy, food and environmental security, innovation, digital transformation and a green economy. This prestigious summit is seen as an event that begins to accelerate current ties and use the existing potential.
It should be noted that during the SCO chairmanship, Uzbekistan focused on opening new horizons of cooperation, advancing the development of the Organization by mobilizing the unused reserves of each member country.
In particular, during this time, more than 80 events were held directly on the initiative of Uzbekistan, 30 of them at the level of heads of relevant ministries and agencies. At the same time, special attention was paid to determining the new dynamics of the SCO development, strengthening the ability to adequately respond to emerging threats in the world.
At the same time, drafts of 14 new conceptual documents aimed at the content and institutional expansion of the spheres of cooperation in the SCO were developed.
In general, the Samarkand Summit created a space for direct dialogue between the SCO countries and peoples after a three-year break related to the pandemic, which led to a serious disruption of trade-economic and industrial relations.
