July 30 – Friendship Day
In independent Uzbekistan, interethnic and interfaith harmony and mutual understanding, educating the younger generation in the spirit of tolerance, respect for national and universal values, and patriotism have become one of the most important priorities of the state policy of the country.
Constitution of Uzbekistan and laws state that all citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan have equal rights and freedoms, regardless of nationality, language and religion. All conditions have been created for the development of their culture, traditions and customs.
A press conference dedicated to Friendship Day was held at the Agency for Information and Mass Communications. The event was attended by the leadership and staff of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries, activists of national cultural centers operating in the country, guests and media representatives.
Chairman of the Committee Rustambek Kurbanov congratulated all compatriots on Friendship Day and noted that the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with several organizations, would hold a Friendship Festival.
Various cultural, spiritual, enlightenment, scientific and practical events are planned in Uzbekistan as part of the festival from July 30 to August 7.
A decision was made to organize festive events and concert programs in all regions of the country from July 30 to August 3.
Representatives of international organizations, foreign politicians and experts will take part in the Friendship Festival. In particular, a delegation led by the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Kairat Abdrakhmanov arrived in Uzbekistan.
On July 28, the distinguished guest met with activists of national cultural centers (Tajik, Slavic, Kyrgyz) in Andijan and Fergana regions, during which he had the opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of the newly opened House of Friendship in Fergana.
On July 29, Kairat Abdrakhmanov got acquainted with the activities of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries in Tashkent.
The distinguished guest will take part in the festive events organized as part of the Friendship Festival.
